Jesse McCartney plans to celebrate his wife, Katie Peterson, in style for their third wedding anniversary after an admittedly difficult time.
“Katie’s wonderful,” McCartney, 37, exclusively told Us Weekly at the 23rd Annual Christmas at The Grove Tree Lighting Celebration in L.A. on Monday, November 25. “This last year, it was hard for her. I was traveling so much. She actually came out quite a bit, but needless to say, we didn’t get much of an anniversary.”
He added, “I was on the road [and] I think we celebrated, literally, in a hotel room with Domino’s and a bottle of cheap red wine. So, at some point, I’m going to have to make sure I follow through on our three-year and take her someplace.”
McCartney and Peterson, 37, got married in October 2021 after nine years together. For the singer, the journey has “been amazing.”
McCartney also recently closed out his All’s Well Tour earlier this fall.
“I would describe it as just a little bit of nostalgia mixed with a little bit of new music that I’ve been working on, a collection of songs over the last year, and hopefully we’ll continue it next year,” McCartney added to Us. “My plan is to maybe get back out there, hopefully, maybe even at the end of next year and probably get back in the studio in January, maybe work on some collabs with some other artists. So just staying in it, continuing my writing and we’ll see what happens next.”
Until then, McCartney, who released his All’s Well EP in April, and Peterson will be doing “a whole lot of nothing” during the holiday season.
“I’ve been traveling for … all of 2024. We did over 50 shows this year and it was super successful and fun and I love being on the road, but I’m ready for a little break,” McCartney said. “I’m going to just sit at home, watch some Harry Potter movies, Home Alone, the classics.”
Then, when the New Year kicks in, the former child star already has his resolution in mind.
“I think patience is something I’m practicing and will probably be at the top of my list for New Year’s resolutions of ’25,” McCartney said. “As I get older, I realize it’s nice to really stop and enjoy it because, I’m in this now; I’m still doing it, and you really need to enjoy the ride.”
McCartney jumpstarted his holiday plans by attending Fox 11’s annual Christmas at The Grove Tree Lighting Celebration, where he performed dressed in a snazzy silver suit.
