Netflix usually has a strong lineup of original series for the entire year, and this summer is no exception.

Looking ahead at the hottest months of the year, it’s easy to place Wednesday and Squid Game on our list of the most-anticipated Netflix shows of summer 2025.

But Netflix has more to offer subscribers than just those two admittedly popular shows. The streamer also has a dark family drama, a murder mystery and a returning action comedy series.

5. ‘The Waterfront’

Scream screenwriter and Dawson’s Creek creator Kevin Williamson is the man behind The Waterfront, a new Netflix original drama. For generations, the Buckley family’s wealth gave them immense power and influence in their fishing town. Now, with the family facing financial ruin, Harlan Buckley (Holt McCallany) has decided to partner up with a drug lord called Grady (Topher Grace).

Harlan’s son, Cane Buckley (Jake Weary), isn’t fully on board with the idea. But once the family is in the drug business, they have to protect themselves at all costs, especially since the DEA is closing in on their new operation.

The Waterfront will stream on Netflix on June 19.

4. ‘Untamed’

Eric Bana headlines Untamed as Eric Inman, a special agent for the National Parks Service. Eric doesn’t get a lot of murder cases, but a body has been discovered in Yosemite National Park. And this death is far too brutal to be an accident.

The investigation will uncover some of Yosemite’s darkest secrets, as well as a few secrets from Eric’s past. Sam Neill, Wilson Bethel, Lily Santiago and Rosemarie DeWitt will round out the cast of this series.

Untamed will stream on Netflix on July 17.

3. ‘FUBAR’ Season 2

FUBAR season 1 introduced Arnold Schwarzenegger as Luke Brunner, a CIA agent who had no idea his daughter, Emma (Monica Barbaro), unknowingly followed him into the family business. Since discovering the truth, Luke and Emma have been working together as a team to take down terrorists.

The first season ended with the Brunners on the run after their identities were leaked to their enemies. Judging from the trailer, it looks like the entire CIA team is in witness protection and forced to live under the same roof. Carrie-Anne Moss is also joining the cast as Greta Nelson, a former East German spy who reenters Luke’s life.

FUBAR season 2 will stream on Netflix on June 12.

2. ‘Squid Game’ Season 3

Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) returned in Squid Game season 2 because he wanted to bring down the horrific games of life and death. Gi-hun even helped start a rebellion inside the games, which was crushed when his ally,  Hwang In-ho (Lee Byung-hun), revealed that he’s been the Front Man all along.

Now, the games are beginning again in the third and final season of Squid Game. And if Gi-hun thought the contests were deadly before, they’re even more lethal in the aftermath of his uprising.

Squid Game season 3 will stream on Netflix on June 27.

1. ‘Wednesday’ Season 2

Jenna Ortega is back in Wednesday season 2, as the title character returns for her second year at Nevermore Academy. Last season, Wednesday’s would-be love interest, Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan), turned out to be a monster. Wednesday and Tyler will meet again at some point in season 2, but there are brand new mysteries to dive into.

Expect to see more of the Addams family this year, as Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán and Isaac Ordonez have been bumped up to series regulars. Christopher Lloyd, who played Uncle Fester in the two Addams Family movies from the ’90s, has also joined Wednesday season 2 in a currently undisclosed role.

Wednesday season 2, part 1 will stream on Netflix on August 6. Season 2, part 2 will follow on September 3.
