Pregnant YouTuber Trisha Paytas is weighing in on (unhinged!) online theories that her unborn child is Pope Francis reincarnated.
“I just don’t get it. First of all, I’m months away from my due date, not even close this time,” Paytas, 36, said on the Tuesday, April 22, episode of the “Just Trish” podcast. (Her due date is July.) “He’s not in the British monarch[y]. Is it just any influential person that dies gets to come reincarnated as my baby?”
News broke on Monday, April 21, that Francis, who had been the leader of the Catholic Church since 2013, died at age 88. His official cause of death was released by the Vatican as a cerebral stroke, followed by a coma and “irreversible cardiocirculatory collapse.”
“That one I don’t get,” she continued of the theories about her unborn child and Francis. “If King Charles [III] died, I’d be like, ‘OK.’ The Pope is kind of far removed from Queen Elizabeth [II]. I don’t understand why my womb is carrying all of these souls.”
Podcast cohost Oscar Gracey explained that theory revolves around a “historic person of power” who dies around the time Paytas is pregnant and “people kind of associate the two.”
“So my baby is going to absorb it?” Paytas asked, before noting that Francis died at age 88, which is her favorite number.

While Paytas and her husband, Moses Hacmon, have yet to reveal the sex of their baby, Gracey quipped that if the couple have a boy, they will be unable to “escape the baby Pope allegations.”
“If it’s a boy, I guess so. I guess we’re naming it … Pope is not a bad name,” she replied. “Technically there’s girls named Francis, too. So we could have a girl [named] Pope Francis. My dad’s name is Francis, so. I’ll take the Pope, I guess. I guess that’s better than Charles.”
“I just don’t know how that happens. Like, how is that actually going into my … how do I actually absorb it?” she continued. “I guess I’ve been manifesting that. Gosh, I’m so powerful.”
When Hacmon alleged that the reincarnation has to be in a specific window — 49 days to be exact, Paytas noted that her due date is outside of that time-frame.
“Sorry y’all. I wish the Pope could have hung in there a little longer,” she said. “Well, maybe I’ll go into labor early. We’ll see. Please no. … I’ll let you know if I start feeling a little holier.”
Paytas announced in March that she and Hacmon are expecting their third child. “MAMMA MIA! HERE WE GO AGAIN! 😱,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “BABY #3 COMING JULY 2025 👶🏼.”
The theories surrounding Paytas’ children being famous historical figures reincarnated began when her first two pregnancies coincided with Queen Elizabeth II’s death in 2022 and Charles’ cancer diagnosis in early 2024. Paytas and Hacmon welcomed daughter Malibu Barbie and son Elvis in September 2022 and June 2024, respectively.
“I get the meme of it all,” she said in a February 2024 TikTok. “I was able to lean into the Queen Elizabeth one a little bit, but, like, it also terrifies me that people believe in it enough.”
