Amy Duggar King’s husband, Dillon King, has been diagnosed with a severe diaphragmatic rupture.
“After continued pain and concerns that could no longer be ignored, we sought medical attention, only to receive news no one ever expects to hear,” Amy, 38, told People on Wednesday, April 9. “Dillon has been diagnosed with a severe diaphragmatic rupture — an extremely rare and dangerous condition that has caused vital organs, including his kidney and parts of his digestive system, to shift into his chest cavity.”
After Dillon, 37, underwent CT scans, doctors found a four-inch tear in his diaphragm and discovered that his right kidney, appendix, colon and small intestines had all been “displaced” inside the body.
“Doctors have made it clear that this is not a quick fix,” Amy told the outlet. “The risks are high, the procedures complex and the recovery uncertain. We are taking this one moment at a time, clinging to hope, prayer, and the wisdom of the medical teams who are now walking this road with us.”
According to Amy, her spouse is currently hospitalized but is in stable condition.

“This has shaken our family deeply,” Amy said. “Dillon is a fighter — anyone who knows him knows his strength — but even the strongest among us sometimes face battles we never anticipated. … We will share more as we’re able, but for now, our focus is on Dillon’s health, our family’s faith and the fight in front of us.”
Amy revealed via Instagram earlier this month that Dillon had been taken to the hospital to address “possible life-threatening medical concerns.”
“Today, I’d like to ask for some prayers on his behalf,” Amy wrote in a birthday tribute. “I know God has him, but we welcome the prayers!! I can’t think of a better gift for him! Dillon, we can get through anything together.”
Amy’s cousins Jessa Duggar, Jinger Duggar, Jill Duggar and more all shared their prayers in the comments section. (Amy’s mother, Deanna Duggar, is the sister of 19 Kids and Counting patriarch Jim Bob Duggar.)
“Thank you for all prayers, they mean so much to our little family,” Amy added on April 3.

Amy and Dillon have been married since 2015, later welcoming son Dax in 2019.
“It’s not just the smiles on our faces that matter, but the stories behind those smiles,” Dillon gushed of their marriage in a July 2023 Instagram post. “Each one holds a chapter of our journey— the laughter, the tears, the highs, and the lows — all woven together with empathy and love. Together, we’ve navigated the challenges that life threw at us, and it’s made our bond even stronger. Love you.”
