T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach aren’t getting married yet, but they already have some of the details worked out — including who will be popping the question.
During the Monday, December 9, episode of their “Amy and T.J.” podcast, Holmes, 47, and Robach, 51, were asked burning questions about their plans to eventually tie the knot.
“It’s not an if, it’s a when. I like that. I actually appreciate that,” Robach said before revealing how Holmes turned her down when she asked about proposing to him. “T.J., you told me that I should never propose to you.”
Holmes seemed surprised by Robach’s idea, to which she replied, “Remember, we were talking about women proposing to men? But I’m just saying that if I answer this, I feel like that’d be kind of in part me saying when I would like to get married.”
She continued: “We don’t have a date, obviously, and we haven’t even decided what we’re going to do. [But] I said I want to and I’d like to in the fall [and] that would be akin to me proposing to you.”
Robach urged Holmes to “answer the question” instead of asking her whether she thought by next fall they would be married. Holmes confirmed that he could see him and Robach being a married couple “sooner rather than later.”
“I say that based on my exclusive conversations with the bride,” he quipped. “I say that because we are not trying to figure things out. We are not trying to see if we want to be together. We’re not trying to do a trial run to see if this thing can work. That’s not where we are.”
According to Holmes, the “decision has been made” about him and Robach spending their lives together.
“When we are getting married, that’s going to be a byproduct of what’s happening. And it’s coming,” he added before Robach noted, “We’ve talked about marriage. We haven’t talked about a wedding. And there is a difference between the two.”
Robach and Holmes have used their podcast as a platform to discuss their relationship milestones. Their first episode premiered in December 2023, which was one year after the former GMA3 costars made headlines for getting cozy outside of the office.

At the time, Robach was married to Andrew Shue and Holmes was married to Marilee Fiebig. Robach and Holmes both filed for divorce after their relationship was exposed in November 2022 and have since claimed their respective marriages were over before they started dating.
Robach and Holmes previously made headlines with their podcast when they spoke about a fight they had off the air.
“We weren’t expecting to record one today. It’s going to be a surprise to our iHeart team that we even have this podcast, and it’s even a surprise to Robach, who is sitting here next to me, not in the studio. We are in our living room right now,” Holmes explained in January. “We ain’t right. You and I aren’t OK right now. I said, ‘You know what? Let’s set up and do a podcast.’”
Robach pointed out that she and Holmes weren’t on the same page at that point in their relationship.
“I felt extremely disconnected from you, and I am someone who does want and needs physical touch, words of affirmation and communication,” she explained, adding that Holmes was “emotionally removed” from her. “The last few days, I felt disconnected from you.”

Meanwhile, Holmes couldn’t understand where Robach was coming from, but the pair ultimately worked out their differences.
“We just wanted to check in and let you know that, despite what you’ve been hearing, we are still together,” Holmes said via Instagram video at the time. “We’re hearing from a lot of you all on our latest episode of the podcast. It was something we really struggled and debated about whether or not we should even put out there — but at this point I’m glad we did.”
The joint post featured an explanation from Robach about why they decided to record themselves.
“Our larger goal in putting out our latest episode was to show that, yes, we like to show pictures of us smiling like everyone else and laughing on social media, but if we want to be real and we want to be transparent, we wanted to show all the sides of us and I would say most relationships,” she shared. “So we hope that all you get something out of it and we hope you keep coming back.”
