Baroda Posts 349 for 5 Highest-Ever T20 Total in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Baroda smashed the record books in their Group B match against Sikkim at the Emerald High School Ground in Indore. The Krunal Pandya-led team put up a staggering 349/5 in their 20 overs. This is now the highest total in the history of T20 Cricket.

Baroda’s Record-Breaking Batting

The Baroda batters, led by skipper Krunal Pandya, were relentless. Bhanu Pania’s unbeaten 134 off just 51 balls was the showstopper while blistering half-centuries from Abhimanyu Singh Rajput, Shivalik Sharma, and Vishnu Solanki ensured there was no let-up in the carnage. It is worth noting that Baroda were without their star Hardik Pandya in this game.

This is only the third instance of a team crossing the 300-run barrier in T20s. Before this, only Zimbabwe and Nepal have been able to achieve this feat. Team India came close to breaching the 300-run mark against Bangladesh earlier this year but missed the mark by three runs.

Baroda did not stop there. They smashed an unbelievable 37 sixes and rewrote the record for most sixes in a T20 innings The previous record was held by Zimbabwe against Gambia, which was 27 sixes. Baroda scored 294 runs in boundaries. This is the most in a T20 innings. Sikkim’s Sunil Prasad Roshan Kumar conceded 81 runs in his 4 overs, which is the third joint-most in a T20 innings.

Baroda’s Historic Win

After setting up such a mammoth total, Baroda managed to restrict Sikkim to just 86 for 7 in their 20 overs. Ninad Rathva and Mahesh Pithiya picked 2 wickets each while captain Krunal Pandya picked up a wicket. Krunal also bowled 2 maiden overs in his 4-over spell. This extraordinary effort has almost assured Baroda of a top spot in Group B.

For Sikkim, Robin Mankumar Limboo top scored with 20 runs in 20 balls.
