Ben Affleck has nothing but praise for ex-wife Jennifer Lopez while walking the red carpet at The Account 2 premiere.
“It’s a great night. The kids are here, Jen’s kids are here. I’m very, very excited,” Affleck, 52, told Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday, April 16. “I’m proud of the movie, I love the movie and I love when all the kids come out. It’s really fun. It’s exciting.”
After the outlet pointed out that it’s “really dope” Affleck has been “continuing those relationships,” Affleck replied, “Listen, I don’t read the stuff online much, and sometimes I get the sense that people perpetuate this idea of, I don’t know, they wanna find something negative to talk about.”
“For the record, Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids, great ongoing relationship with them,” he continued. “I love her kids. They’re wonderful. She’s [an] enormously important, tremendous person of a lot of integrity who I adore and am grateful to.”
Affleck gushed that he’s “thrilled” both his and Lopez’s kids are with him. (Affleck is dad to Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13, whom he welcomed with ex-wife Jennifer Garner. Lopez, for her part, shares 17-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony.)
“The relationships that you can have with children like that, it’s the joy of my life,” Affleck said. “And those kids are amazing, and I’m glad that this is a movie they want to come to.”

After the outlet noted that Affleck is “a really good dad,” he replied, “I try my best. I certainly do.”
Affleck’s comments come one year after his marriage to Lopez, 55, ended. While Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024 on their second wedding anniversary, their date of separation was listed as April 2024. The pair’s divorce was finalized in January.
Affleck’s comments come after he opened up for the first time about the ending of his relationship with Lopez in GQ’s April cover story. Affleck told the outlet that there’s “no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue,” regarding their breakup, adding, “There is no, ‘This is what happened.’ It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do.”
Moving forward, Affleck doesn’t want to rush into another relationship, a source exclusively shared in Us Weekly’s latest cover story.
“He and J.Lo moved so fast,” the insider said. “In the future, he’ll be more cautious. He’s much more centered and reflective now.”
A separate source shared that Affleck is “really happy” and “in a good headspace,” adding, “He’s embracing this next chapter.”
