Ben Curran Gets First Zimbabwe Call-Up For ODIs


Brother of and Tom Curran, Ben Curran and Newman Nyamhuri have  been selected for Zimbabwe’s ODI squad against Afghanistan.

Ben Curran Earns Maiden Zimbabwe Call-Up

Ben Curran has been rewarded for stellar performances in domestic cricket with his maiden Zimbabwe Call-Up. The left-handed batter is the son of former Zimbabwe cricketer Kevin Curran and brother of Tom and Sam Curran. 

Ben has been included in the ODI squad for the Afghanistan series. His selection highlights Zimbabwe’s commitment to nurturing domestic talent.

In addition to Curran, Newman Nyamhuri  has been called for both ODI and T20I squads. The 18-year-old left arm pacer impressed in the Under-19 World Cup earlier this year. He became Zimbabwe’s highest wicket-taker in the tournament.

Squad Changes For Afghanistan Series

The squads have undergone some key changes due to injuries and performance based decisions. Faraz Akram, Brandon Mavuta and Clive Madande are unavailable, with Madande recovering from a shoulder dislocation.The experienced Sikandar Raza will lead the T20 squad, while Craig Ervine will captain the ODI side.

Nyamhuri replaced Mavuta in the T20 lineup, while Takudzwanashe performed in the recent series against Pakistan, where they secured a win in the first ODI.

Schedule And Expectations 

The series against Afghanistan will kick off with three T20Is in Harare from December 11-14. The T20Is will be followed by three ODIs at the same venue starting on December 16. Zimbabwe is hoping to capitalise on their home advantage and the fresh energy brought by Curran and Nyamhuri.

Curran’s inclusion adds depth to Zimbabwe’s batting line-up, while Nyamhuri strengthened their bowling attack. Both players are eager to make impactful.debuts and contribute to their team’s success.

Zimbabwe’s recent performances have shown promise, and these new additions are expected to enhance the team’s competitiveness against a strong Afghan side.

T20 Squad  : Sikandar Raza(C), Brian Bennett, Ryan Burl, Takudzwanashe Kaitano, Wellington Masakadza, Blessings Muzarabani.

ODI Squad : Ervine ( C), Sean Williams, Victory Nyauchi, Ben Curran, Newman Nyamhuri, Richard Ngarava.
