Days of Our Lives alum Crystal Chappell is sharing a rare update on husband Michael Sabatino’s health.
“He’s doing well,” Chappell, 59, told Swooon in an interview published Thursday, February 13. “We live in a very beautiful home on the Central Coast. We can see the ocean. It’s calm. It’s laid back. That’s kind of our vibe now.”
In September 2024, the soap star first shared with her social media followers that Sabatino, 69, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s.
“He’s just fine Folks,” she wrote via X at the time. “We feel blessed and ready for tomorrow. Meanwhile, to quote him, he makes a ‘Fine’ martini with that right hand.”
Parkinson’s is a movement disorder of the nervous system that worsens over time, according to the Mayo Clinic. Although Parkinson’s disease can’t be cured, medicines may help symptoms get better. In addition, a healthcare professional may suggest surgery to help control parts of the brain and lessen symptoms.
“I feel pretty good,” Sabatino shared in his latest interview. “I have a really good doctor at Stanford [Medicine]. He’s given me meds that kind of control any type of tremors. I’m lucky because I’m in really good shape. I’m pretty strong.”
While the fellow Days of Our Lives alum knows that some people “are challenged with balance,” he makes it a priority to do a lot of balance exercises.
“Also,” he added, “I do a lot of yoga with Crystal.”
Chappell and Sabatino have been together for 34 years and married for 28. The couple — who first met on the set of Days of Our Lives when he played Lawrence Alamain while she portrayed Carly Manning — share two children, Jacob, 24, and Dylan 21.
While their kids are considered adults, both Chappell and Sabatino are happy to have one close by.
“We have a college student that still lives with us, but he has a girlfriend and a job,” Sabatino shared. “We see him probably half of the week.”
Recently, both kids were able to reunite for the holiday season. “Three Amazing Kind and Loving Men…. Yea, feelin good,” Chappell wrote via Instagram in December 2024. “Happy Happy!
While Sabatino’s health comes first, Chappell is making space to focus on a passion project, She is working hard to bring back the popular web series, Venice.
“It’s a rich season,” she teased. “There’s a lot going on with a lot of upheaval, a lot of community and coming together. There’s some laughter, too.”
