Designers love to put famous faces in their beautiful clothes, jewelry, and accessories, but even if they go out wearing $35,000 bangles, they still need their own clothes. At the same time, you don’t want to be seen in the same outfit as anyone else, so what do you do? You go deep into the internet to find great new brands that you won’t see coming the other way.
From Millie Bobby Brown’s $18 gingham dress to Taylor Swift’s denim shorts, I went deep into the ‘grams and photo archives to find 27 different clothing brands that celebrities really wear. Some of them are dirt cheap, and none of them are bank-breaking, so now please excuse us while I break for a moderately-priced shopping spree.
9 Low-Cost Finds
Katy Perry might be in the news for the wrong reasons right now, but when she’s rocking a $6 Boohoo body suit I’ll give her a pass. She’s not the only one in clothing you don’t have to miss a meal for, either.
- Snug As a Bug: The cast of Real Housewives isn’t exactly known for bargain shopping, but RHOBH alum Kyle Richards is obsessed with Amazon’s oversized knit cardigan. And since it’s less than $40, I’ll need two colors, please.
- Picnic Princess: Millie Bobby Brown may be a Netflix superstar, but she wore Cider’s $18 gingham dress on her Instagram a few years back. Grab one before cookout season!
- Fictitious Frills: Vanderpump Rules‘ Lala Kent could obviously manage a pricey set of gold hoops, but instead, she opts for a three-piece Amazon set. It’s on sale for $10, and Yahoo! Life says she considers it to be a “staple purchase.”
- Fancified Farmer: ASOS’ denim overalls are completely timeless. And although they may not be the exact cut that Kate Bosworth wore in NYC years ago, they’re $55 — what a steal.
- Night Out: TikTok personality and professional dancer Charli D’Amelio wore Lulu’s Ray of Charm Midi Dress at a July 2024 meet and greet. Less than $50 for a going-out dress? Who is she?
- Rocker Chick: Singer-turned-talkshow-host Kelly Clarkson rocked a chiffon heart top from online clothing giant Nasty Gal during a 2020 episode of her show. And considering its less than $30, you’ll wanna run to get yours.
- Funky Fresh: Wait, Katy Perry wore a $6 Boohoo body suit? You heard that right — in fact, she wore it to debut a new shoe collection in spring 2022. Pair it with jeans or a skirt… either way, you’ll pay less than $10 for it.
- Totally Classic: Keep your hair pushed back with a knitted canvas headband. Hilary Duff is a fan of Amazon’s Lele Sadoughi’s black headband. She, along with other stars like Naomi Campbell and Drew Barrymore, are big fans.
- Comfy and Cute: Superga’s White Sneakers are a favorite of Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Alba’s. They’re machine-washable, too, so you can wear them for years to come.
Moderately Priced Must-Haves
Everyone from from Selena Gomez to Reese Witherspoon is shopping fun new moderately-priced brands that won’t break the bank.
- Fun and Flirty: OK, adding Splendid’s Laura Jumpsuit to cart! A few years ago, Selena Gomez sported a denim jumpsuit from the same brand on her birthday. And while I couldn’t find the exact same one that she totally rocked, the brand offers so many others that are just as cute!
- Cozy Yet Elegant: I truly need Heartloom’s Nerina Pants in my closet right now. They aren’t an exact match to Emma Roberts’ Heartloom pants, but they have a similar effortlessly cool vibe. Pair them with a soft wool sweater or with a sleek tube top — you’ll look sophisticated AF.
- Classic Denim: Apparently, Taylor Swift has no bad blood with accessible styles. The pop star was spotted wearing Grlfrnd Whitney Shorts from FWRD at the Chiefs-Ravens game. They’re less than $150 and will def be a staple in my closet this summer.
- The Comfiest Shoes Ever: Elle Woods might scoff at wearing Birkenstock Arizona sandals in public. However, Reese Witherspoon has been spotted wearing them on multiple occasions, according to Page Six. Yes, we all know and love Birks, but I love she that appreciates this accessible brand as much as I do!
- Pleasure Doing Business: Mango’s wide legged cotton pants are a different color than Siena Miller’s, but WhoWhatWear confirmed she bought these iconic pants from there (just in beige).
- Trip to Paris: TV personality Amanda Holden looked as if she were embarking on a trip to Europe in River Island’s Cowl Neck Midi Dress. She compares it to Vivienne Westwood, but it’s less than $80… wow.
- So Practical: Queen Camilla hopped aboard the Gen-Z train by getting her hands on Uniqlo’s viral down jacket. Hello! confirmed the 77-year-old royal paired hers with a black top and skinny jeans — beyond chic.
- Naptime: Take a trip to nap city in Florence by Mills’ Cozy Crush sweatpants. Yahoo! Life reports Drew Barrymore wore them on her show — which means we’ll be needing a pair too.
- Fresh Loungewear: Tkee’s Core Hoodie is soft, relaxed and sustainably-made. Though Tkees no longer makes Jennifer Garner’s favorite hoodie, she is a known fan of the Toronto-based brand.
Higher End (But Still Not Designer) Closet Staples
Even most of the “high end” brands here are under $100, proving you don’t need to go into the red on your credit card t look great, you just have to shop creatively.
- Luxury Basics: Though you can find some basics for $10 at H&M or Target, sometimes it’s OK to splurge on a quality version that won’t pill or rip. Hailey Bieber was photographed wearing in a $78 Leset white tee during a trip to NYC by Vogue, and it looked great. Just don’t spill anything on it.
- Innovative: Everlane’s cognac leather tote appears to be a go-to bag for Meghan Markle. And despite the fact it may not be the least expensive item on here, it’s eco-friendly and less expensive than designer (which is all I can really ask for!).
- Youthful but Smart: The same Vogue article highlights Sofia Richie’s sweater tank from Revolve that adds a pop of color to her otherwise neutral palate. I could definitely use one in every color.
- Fresh and Clean: Jessica Alba has Quince’s Mongolian Cashmere Boyfriend Sweater, so now I need one. Page Six, spotted her wearing it in Los Angeles, rocking it with layered necklaces and a crossbody bag. Love.
- Bling Bling: HRH Princess Kate Middleton wears her Missoma Mini Hoop Pyramid Earrings on the regular. That’s right — she’s a longtime fan of the brand, Glamour reports, and she often sports these exact earrings.
- Simple Hoops: Ayo Edebiri may be in the spotlight, but she wears Mejuri’s huggie hoops, which cost less than $200. She wore them to the Golden Globes, so prepare to look red carpet-ready.
- Basic Body Suit: Everyone needs a basic body suit like Meshki’s Alyssa shapewear bodysuit. Even though it isn’t exactly the one Kylie Jenner has, according to PopSugar, it’s an equally essential closet staple.
- Crop City: Steal Hailey Bieber’s Jaded London Thalia Crop Top. Femme Stella reports she sported it with a matching set of bottoms — perfect for a cozy night in or for a dressed-up night out.
- Daring Denim: Along with Florence by Mills’ sweatpants, Yahoo! Life reported Drew Barrymore also likes Paige Cindy’s high-waisted straight leg jeans. Of course, they aren’t the cheapest pair of jeans out there at $239, but they’re certainly less pricey than serious designer jeans.
