Brick

Netflix has announced it will release Brick, a sci-fi thriller starring Matthias Schweighöfer and Ruby O. Fee this July 10. Directed by Philip Koch, the story concerns a couple who “awake trapped in their apartment behind an impenetrable, futuristic wall which has materialized overnight…and they are not alone. Can they solve the mystery of the wall in time — and survive?”

Corporate Retreat

Variety also has word Simona Tabasco (The White Lotus) will star alongside Alan Ruck, Ashton Sanders, and Rosanna Arquette in Corporate Retreat, a horror-thriller from director Aaron Fisher, in which “a team-building getaway spirals into a violent struggle for survival when their retreat leader reveals a deadly agenda.”

Fede Alvarez’s Alien

According to insider Jeff Sneider (via AVP Galaxy), a Predator will feature in Fede Alvarez’s sequel to Alien: Romulus.

Thunderbolts*

During a recent interview with Screen Rant, Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier stated “there’s a lot of trauma to be mined” amongst its team roster.

I think it more just came from the endemic story that we had to tell. When you have Sentry and the Void – and people have said it online, “How are they supposed to beat that guy?” – we know it’s always going to have to be a more internal version. I think what we tried to do is have that be more than a talking-down, and really find a visual action narrative way to dramatize what that internality looks like. And I hope it resonates.

The good thing is, in this world, there’s a lot of trauma to be mined. They’ve gone through a lot. When you have a character like Bob, The Sentry and The Void, you know that’s part of the story, and that’s such a rich character. We talked to Paul Jenkins, who created it, and it always was meant to be a parable for mental health.

So, we have to do something that plays in that world if we’re going to be honest about who that character is. And then it becomes about, “How do we tie the arcs of the other characters to be such that they fit with that antagonist?”

Gargoyles

Speaking with Variety, Gary Dauberman stated he’s “hoping” the live-action Gargoyles series at Disney feels “very similar” to the original animated one.

Oh, yes, another beloved piece of IP. This new iteration of Gargoyles…The show was already pretty dark in that it was serialized, it was a mature thing, it’s operatic and the story was so epic. I’m hoping it’s very similar to the vibe that you got when you were watching it back in the late ’90s. I just loved that half hour of television, falling into their world. I’m hoping we achieve that. It’s a lot of fun, though — it’s a thrill.

Star Wars: Andor

Speaking with TV Line, Adria Arjona suggested Bix Calleen’s “accumulation of traumas” are somewhat lessened by her doomed relationship with Cassian Andor.

There is a lot for Bix to get over. It’s not easy to get over what Dr. Gorst did to her, and having to leave her motherland, Ferrix. And in Episodes 1 through 3 [of Season 2], she goes through even more stuff. It’s an accumulation of traumas that Bix is carrying, and she is trying desperately to get over them. She’s creating this beautiful relationship with Cassian, and relying on someone is something she is experiencing for the first time. My favorite part [of Season 2] is seeing this relationship grow and get deeper, even though the circumstances outside might limit them.

House of the Dragon

Abubakar Salim posted a photo of his character, Alyn of Hull, wearing full plate armor bearing the Velaryon sigil on Twitter.

The Last of Us
