Afghanistan cricket has faced a significant setback ahead of their three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. Star wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been ruled out due to a Grade 2B quadriceps injury and a bony hip flexor injury.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board ( ACB) has confirmed the news on their official social media platforms. 19-year-old Mohammad Ishaq will replace Gurbaz. Ishaq has played five T20Is so far and ODI debut is yet to come. This opportunity has given the young player a chance to prove his potential on the international stage.
ACB also announced that ace spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman will miss the series to recover fully. The team management prioritised long-term player health over short-term participation.The series started today on 17 December in Harare.
