PORT-AU-PRINCE (Reuters) – Haiti on Thursday tapped the nation’s security minister to fill in as interim health minister, the official gazette showed, two days after armed men fired on a planned hospital reopening event hosted by the previous health minister, leaving three people dead.

The ministry had called on journalists to attend the event at 8 a.m. local time. The previous minister, Duckenson Lorthe Blema, had still not arrived when the shooting started around 11 a.m. local time. He was installed in his post in November.
