Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has triggered fresh speculation about a possible rift with MS Dhoni after posting a cryptic message on social media. Harbhajan’s X (formerly Twitter) post read, “Strangers can become best friends just as easily as best friends can become strangers.
The post, which didn’t mention anyone’s name, appeared after Harbhajan, in an interview, said he hadn’t spoken to Dhoni in more than a decade. Fans quickly made the connection and drew parallels between the post and Harbhajan’s words that he had limited communication with Dhoni during his playing days.

“I don’t speak to Dhoni”: Harbhajan Singh
In a conversation with CricketNext, Harbhajan discussed his equation with the former Indian captain, revealing that they barely spoke off the field.
“No, I don’t speak to Dhoni. When I was playing at CSK, that’s when we spoke, but otherwise, we haven’t spoken. It’s been 10 years and more. I have no reason; perhaps he does. I don’t know what the reasons are,” Harbhajan said.
He also shared that their conversations during their stint with Chennai Super Kings in the IPL were restricted to cricket and the ground. “After the matches, he didn’t come to my room, nor did I go to his,” Harbhajan added.
Have Harbhajan and Dhoni Drifted Apart?
Harbhajan’s post went viral within minutes, and fans started posting mixed reactions. Some of them started speculating that there is a fallout between the two. Others urged the cricketers to clear the rumours publicly. Neither Dhoni nor his representatives have reacted to Harbhajan’s comments or the buzz thereafter.
Harbhajan and Dhoni have been a part of some of Indian cricket’s most memorable moments, including winning the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup. However, from what he says, their bonhomie never crossed the boundary of the cricket field.
The revelation has left fans puzzled. The duo shared excellent relations in not just the international format, but in the IPL. Even as Harbhajan hints Dhoni might be harbouring reasons to avoid communication with him, he holds no grudges against the former India captain.
