House of the Dragon season three went into production about a month ago, so it’s not surprising we’re getting some new casting announcements today. Showrunner Ryan Condal has previously teased “four major events from the book” will be part of the next batch of episodes.
As fans of the Game of Thrones prequel well know, major events in Fire & Blood tend to mean a pile-up of bodies… so maybe don’t get to attached to all these new faces.
Deadline reports our next visit to Westeros will bring Tom Cullen as Ser Luthor Largent, Joplin Sibtain (Brasso on Andor) as Ser “Bold” Jon Roxton, and Barry Sloane as Ser Adrian Redfort.
They join the existing ensemble cast headed up by Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, and Olivia Cooke, and are the latest new characters to join after House of the Dragon‘s previously announced season three additions James Norton (Ormund Hightower), Tommy Flanagan (Lord Roderick Dustin), and Dan Fogler (Ser Torrhen Manderly).
Expect Sers Largent, Roxton, and Redfort to play smaller but pivotal roles in season three. As part of his arc in the book, Largent becomes the Commander of the City Watch under Team Green, but eventually reveals his loyalty to Daemon Targaryen and Team Black. Roxton is staunchly Team Green and gets his nickname from his notorious temper; he also wields a blade known ominously as “Orphan-Maker.” Redfort hails from the Vale of Arryn and is loyal to Rhaenyra Targaryen; he becomes part of her Queensguard.
House of the Dragon season three is currently in production; fiery fingers crossed we see it hit HBO and Max in 2026.
