John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have questioned whether it is time to move their family out of Los Angeles.

“Chrissy and I have always considered returning to New York, where we once lived. We probably will, once our youngest [kids] grow up a bit,” Legend, 46, told The Wall Street Journal in a profile published Tuesday, February 11. “Every time nature shows its wrath, we wonder if it’s time to head back east. Who knows?”

Legend and Teigen, 39, currently reside in the City of Angels with their four children: Luna, 8, Miles, 6, Esti, 2, and Wren, 19 months. The family of six needed to evacuate their L.A. house last month after a string of wildfires tore through the city and devastated thousands of acres of land. (The fires have since been contained.)

“When the Sunset fire began to expand on January 9, the danger felt too close for comfort,” Legend recalled on Tuesday. “That night, my wife and I gathered our four kids, four dogs and bearded dragon and drove south to a hotel in Carlsbad. We didn’t return until the following week.”

He added, “Our home was safe, but many weren’t so fortunate, and the threat still looms. The fires were a collective trauma that shook everyone, including our kids.”

While there is no current timeline for Legend and Teigen’s potential move, they last lived in the Big Apple until 2020.

“We’ve realized that because of work and everything, we’re really mostly going to be in Los Angeles, so we’re going to focus our home-building energy and renovation energy on what we’re doing in L.A.,” the EGOT winner told the WSJ at the time. “We love being there. But we’re just not there enough to justify putting in the time and energy to combine apartments.”

Legend concluded, “I miss it all the time. New York is always going to be my favorite city.”

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend have been busy making memories with their four kids since becoming parents in 2016. Teigen gave birth to their baby girl in April of that year, writing on Instagram: “She’s here! Luna Simone Stephens, we are so in love with you! And sleepy. Very sleepy.” Months after welcoming their second child, […]

Since then, the married couple have been raising their kids in Los Angeles. It is where Luna and Miles attend school, and it’s the location of Luna’s Girl Scout troop. Teigen, for her part, is Luna’s Brownie leader and helps organize cookie fundraisers.

“IT’S COOKIE SEASON!!! If you’d like to support the goodness that is @girlscouts and @girlscoutsla, you can find Luna’s digital cookie page in my bio to get cookies right to your door,” the Cravings founder wrote via Instagram in January. “Your cookie dollars will help our girls continue their support of families and communities across Los Angeles. One of our favorite moments last cookie season was able to bring us was being able to bless entire @baby2baby families with countless gifts for Christmas and essentials all year round. You guys, and your support, YOU did that. And we are so grateful. This year, we plan on doing even more.”
