Kaitlyn Bristowe feels “validated” after fans took her side amid her drama with ex fiancé Jason Tartick.
“It’s messed up,” Bristowe, 39, explained on the Monday, April 28, episode of the “Scrubbing In” podcast, reflecting on how her ex-fiancé allegedly stole her “dream baby name” for his new dog, Teddy.
The former Bachelorette noted, “We had talked about it so many times,” and even though her moniker choice was a “common dog name” it still hurt to see Tartick, 36, take it after their August 2023 split.
While Bristowe acknowledged that she did receive love and supportive via her DMs about her side of the story, it’s still irksome that Tartick’s actions put her in the line of fire.

“It’s hard, because I think he knew I would bring it up, and I think that would get more traction to his page,” she quipped. “And that’s essentially what he’s been going for lately.”
Bristowe, who shared dogs Pinot and Ramen with Tartick before their breakup, claimed that her ex’s name decision could’ve been prompted by his desire for clicks.
“I’m thinking maybe that was the reason,” she said, alleging, “There’s no way he forgot, Like, there’s no way. It was a five-year conversation.”
During the April 3 episode of her “Off the Vine” tell-all podcast, Bristowe claimed that Tartick knowingly swiped her dream baby name after rescuing a golden retriever in March. “I said, the day I met him, ‘I want to name my baby Teddy,’” she told her followers at the time.
“I just have so many gross feelings from that because for so long I was made to feel crazy and now I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m not crazy.’ I just saw what other people are seeing now,” Bristowe continued. “It’s just not aligned. What I want out of life is not what he wants and that is [why] two people shouldn’t be together like that. So, I’m not fully angry, I’m just really grossed out and disappointed.”
Bristowe and Tartick were together four years before parting ways in 2023. Following their split, they shared custody of their two golden retrievers, but after the pups allegedly started to act out with all the back and forth between their respective homes, Bristowe became their sole owner last year.
Tartick went on to adopt Teddy, which is when Bristowe said got “fired” up again and decided to speak out against her ex.
“I’m very much over him. I ended the relationship. I did not want to be in that,” Bristowe said during the April 3 podcast. “It felt icky to me. It felt like everything was for Instagram and numbers. I did not wanna be in it.”
Looking back at Tartick’s actions, Bristowe confessed it was “wild” to hear he poached her name after they spoke about it for years. (Tartick, meanwhile, has yet to publicly comment on Bristowe’s allegations.)
“A lot of things he does, in my opinion, is calculated,” Bristowe said on Monday. “I’m like, ‘This is sad.’” Despite having lingering anger over the situation, Bristowe claimed she is “definitely” through the “hate phase” of their split.
Earlier this month, Bristowe confirmed that she was over Tartick by revealing she’s back on the dating scene. “Honestly, I’ve been protecting my peace the most that I ever have in my life,” she told People on April 22. “And that’s opened up some really beautiful doors for beautiful humans to enter, and I’m really happy where I’m at.”
The Dancing With the Stars alum said she’s “definitely dating and happy” but moving forward she’s trying to “reel it in” when it comes to how much of her personal details she shares.
