KL Rahul Keeps His Batting Position Secret Ahead of Pink-Ball Test.


KL Rahul has kept his batting position a secret as India prepares for the pink-ball Test against Australia at Adelaide Oval. With Rohit Sharma returning to the squad, Rahul’s role in the batting lineup is unclear.

Speaking to reporters, the Indian batter pointed out his willingness to contribute in any capacity. “I just want to be in the playing XI, go out there and bat for the team,” Rahul said. “Luckily, I’ve batted in different positions. Early on, it was mentally challenging, but with experience, it’s become easier.”

KL Rahul’s Strong Return at Perth 

With Rohit Sharma absent, KL Rahul returned to the opening slot during the First Test in Perth. He scored a vital half-century in the second innings after being controversially dismissed in the first. His record 201-run partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal helped India gain the upper hand against a strong Australian bowling attack.

The adaptability Rahul showed in Perth reaffirmed his value to the team. “It’s always about understanding the situation and figuring out how I can get runs. My approach has evolved across formats,” Rahul remarked.

Ahead of the Adelaide Test, Rahul further honed his pink-ball skills in a rain-curtailed warm-up match. Rahul played a composed knock of 27 runs from 44 deliveries while opening He retired to give Shubman Gill time to practice. However, with Rohit Sharma returning, KL Rahul’s batting position is now uncertain. 

KL Rahul Ready for Pink Ball Test 

The day-night Test will be Rahul’s first pink-ball game. He has asked for advice from his mates regarding the conditions.

“This will be my first pink-ball Test, so I’ve been learning from others who’ve played in this format,” Rahul shared. “They’ve told me about the challenges of facing this ball, and I’ve tried to replicate that in practice. Watching the ball under lights is definitely different.”, he further added.

Having experienced all formats and even having played different roles at various stages, Rahul feels positive about rising to the situation.

India, currently leading the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 1-0, is also at the top of the World Test Championship points table. The pink-ball Test at Adelaide Oval, starting December 6, presents a chance for India to consolidate their lead.
