India’s Test stalwart Cheteshwar Pujara has advised against altering India’s bowling combination for the upcoming pink-ball Test against Australia. The Test will start on 6th December at the Adelaide Oval. After a comprehensive 295-run win in the opening match, Pujara believes that the current pace-heavy attack is the key to sustained success on Australian soil.
Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Pujara lauded the trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and debutant Harshit Rana, who played pivotal roles in the first Test. “There’s no question about it. This bowling attack has given us success,” Pujara stated. “Bumrah was excellent, Siraj bowled brilliantly, and Harshit impressed in his first game. He pitched the ball up and stuck to the basics, which worked beautifully.”
Should Harshit Rana Continue in Adelaide?
Harshit Rana’s debut performance caught Pujara’s attention for its maturity and discipline. “In Australia, it’s easy to get carried away by the pace and bounce,” Pujara said. “But Harshit focused on hitting the right spots and maintaining control. That ability is crucial on these pitches.”
Pujara suggested that the team should retain the same seam-bowling unit for the pink-ball Test. He believes that the same bowling attack will prove fruitful at Adelaide.

Washington Sundar Over Jadeja or Ashwin?
The inclusion of Washington Sundar over Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja was another talking point. Pujara defended this decision, highlighting Sundar’s dual ability with bat and ball.
“Washington didn’t look great at the start but adjusted well and picked up a couple of wickets,” Pujara noted. “His ability to vary pace makes him a good option as a spinner, and his batting adds depth to the lineup. If the lower middle-order needs to contribute, Washington can step up.”
Debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy also earned Pujara’s approval for his contributions with both bat and ball. “Nitish bowled a bit and offered balance to the side. He’s another valuable addition,” Pujara said.
