Ravindra Jadeja is not playing today against Australia in the Second Test at Adelaide. India is taking on the Aussies for the Pink Ball Test at the Adelaide Oval. Team India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first. Find out why Ravindra Jadeja is missing from today’s Test match against Australia
“We are going to bat first. Looks a good pitch, looks a bit dry at the moment, enough grass covering as well. There will be something in it for everyone. I have been here for two weeks now. Ready to go now. The mood is good, pretty vibrant. What the boys did in Perth was superb. It’s a long series, we’ll try and do most things right.”, he said.
However, as the Indian Team was announced, it was revealed that Ravindra Jadeja is not playing today against Australia.
Why is Ravindra Jadeja Not Playing Today Against Australia in Adelaide?
Ravindra Jadeja has been excluded from the Playing XI against Australia to make way for an extra seamer. However, the Indian team has added Ravichandran Ashwin instead of Washington Sundar.
Jadeja did not play the First Test against Australia either. However, he did feature in the practice game against PM’s XI. He bowled 5 overs in that game and managed to pick up a wicket as well. He also scored 27 runs with the bat but did not look very comfortable.
Ravichandran Ashwin: India’s Lone Spinner
Ravichandran Ashwin has replaced Washington Sundar for the Pink Ball Test in Adelaide. Sundar impressed in the limited opportunities he got in the First Test at Perth. He managed to pick up 2 wickets in the second innings while also scoring 29 crucial runs.
India have once again decided to go with Nitish Kumar Reddy and Harshit Rana for this Test. Both Nitish Reddy and Harshit Rana made their debuts in the First Test against Australia and impressed everyone with their game.
Nitish Kumar Reddy top-scored for India in the first innings with 41 runs. He followed that up by scoring an unbeaten 38 off 27 balls in the second innings. He even managed to pick up a wicket of dangerous-looking Mitchell Marsh in the second innings.
On the other hand, Harshit Rana toppled the Aussie batting lineup with his pace. He managed to pick up 3 wickets in the first innings and 1 in the second. Harshit also picked up 4 wickets in a span of just 6 balls against PM’s XI.
Apart from his bowling, it was his aggression and energy that earned him praise from the legends of the game. India have chosen to go with the same bowling attack in this game as well with just Ashwin coming in for Sundar.
